This website is optimized for usage with Internet Explorer 6.0 on a PC and Safari 1.3 on Mac OS10. If you experience problems with using this website, the following FAQ may contain information on how to solve your problem. If your problem persists, please contact us and we’ll help you where we can.

The Corbis Images site
Red Dot represents Corbis’ imagery in Hungary and Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Montenegro. Our Cobis section provides our customers from these territories with a spingboard to the Corbis Images website. Clients must register directly on Corbis Images (www.corbisimages.com) or on our Corbis section by clicking at the "Registration" button. Registering and logging in to the Corbis Images site is important, because this way clients will only see images that are available in their territories.

 

1.) Logging in to Red Dot

The Red Dot web site provides easy and secure access to millions of images. To search for images first select Editorial or Stock section by clicking on one of the buttons on the Red Dot start page.
If you choose the Stock section, start by selecting your country. The suppliers available in your country will appear below the search window. 
If you choose the Editorial section, enter your username and password in the login window that automatically appears.

If you do not have a Red Dot site username and password, register on our site directly and you will get an automatic confirmation of your login details.

2.) Searching for images

To find an image, enter the subject name in the search box. Your search results will be displayed along with the option to execute another search among the images displayed: "search within results". Also note the "Advanced Search" link above the search button.

The editorial images we have divided into 6 different categories: Studio, Paparazzi, Movie stills, Sports, News and Entertainment images. This option sellects images acordingly to their category so clients can find much faster their perfect image.

3.) Using Lightboxes

A lightbox is a folder containing any images you wish to view before downloading them. You are not obligated to purchase the images you place in a lightbox. If you decide to purchase any or all the images in your lightbox, simply download them directly.

To create a lightbox, click the "My Lightboxes" option at the top of the web page and follow the instructions. You can create more than one lightbox for your various projects.

4.) Downloading an editorial image

To save a high resolution image (without a watermark) to your computer, click the "Download" icon below the thumbnail image and follow the instructions on the download page. You can save the image to your computer or order the high resolution via e-mail to your mailbox.

5.) Downloading and ordering stock images

Please note that images in the stock section can only be downloaded in low resolution (comping image) with a watermark by right clicking on the image. For high-resolution images please contact us.

6.) Problems with downloading using a Mac

If you have problems when downloading images on a Mac, trying clicking the CTRL-key while clicking the downloadlink. This should open a context menu where you should be able to select something like ’save as...’. Depending on the browser that you use, this might differ a bit. When you click the downloadlink without holding the CTRL-key, your browser will download the image to a default folder (usually your desktop). This default folder can be configured in the options or preferences panel of your browser.
Viewing an image
Click on the image you would like to view. A preview version of the image will be displayed. Below the preview image you will see the image file name, followed by the caption and special instructions which may contain restrictions on the use of the image. To view a larger preview version of the image, click "See Large Preview".
Further down additional information is displayed including the image credit, file size, resolution, and pixel dimensions. This information may help you determine whether a particular image is suitable for publication at a certain size, or estimate the length of time it takes to download it. 

7.) Royalty-Free and Rights Managed images - what are the differences?

Royalty-Free creative images are subject to a one-time payment. They come with a non-exclusive license and can be used unlimited number of times withing the ordered file size. Rights Managed images are charged on a per-use basis, and can be purchased for exclusive use.

8.) Special Services
Red Dot provides free of charge research assistance for editorial and commertial clients.
